Victoria University culinary student Gabrielle Entwisle was named one of Australia’s best trainee chefs at the Australian Apprentice Chef of the Year contest held recently in Darwin.
Gabrielle, 25, from Richmond, was judged the country’s Best Culinary Student by a panel of Australian Culinary Federation judges.

The first cohort of Mumgu-Dhal Tyama-Tiyt students graduated in October at a ceremony held at Flemington Racecourse. Mumgu-Dhal is a Woiwurrung word meaning Message Stick and Tyama-Tiyt is Keeraywooroong word meaning Knowledge - Message Stick of Knowledge.
The Mumgu-Dhal TAFE course is designed for Indigenous participants who want to re-engage in education and then pathway in to further education and employment.

Victoria University's Diploma of Specialist Makeup Student Exhibition - the 'Night of Notables' - took place towards the end of last semester at the City Convention Centre on Level 12 of Victoria University's City Flinders Campus.
Held in recognition of students' achievements throughout the year, the 'Night of Notables' is an inclusive programs for VU's talented diploma students enabling them to showcase their work to industry and other special guests.

The Youth Portfolio at VU has just launched a news-style blog aimed at 16-19 year olds. Called EDGY - which stands for Educational Development and Gateways for Youth - the blog features stories about young people getting their lives together through learning and living opportunities. It is a written in a friendly style, with dynamic pictures and a 'youth voice'.

Learning Spaces of the Future come to VU |

Victoria University has embarked on an exciting project with Cisco, to create a number of 'Learning Spaces of the Future'.
Initially these learning spaces will be in Footscray Park, Melton, and Werribee, and will support the new University strategy of global, distributed and ubiquitous learning and teaching. A pilot program based around delivery of the new Integrated Education Programs (IEPs) in the Diploma of Business (Enterprise) will be the first to trial the innovative learning environment.

Scott Robinson’s computer-based training course is transforming how the University’s plumbing apprentices learn.
At the 2011 Vice Chancellor's Awards, Mr Robinson, a plumbing teacher since 1999, received the peak award in the vocational and further education category for adapting an e-learning WebCT course that allows students to progress through their Certificate III in Plumbing at their own rate and enter the workforce sooner.
